Recognition of Armwood High School's Army Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) for Outstanding Achievement as the Veteran's of Foreign Wars (VFW) State Rifle Match Champions, 2009/2010 (Career and Technical Education-Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

JROTC is an elective course within our high schools which allows students to develop outstanding leadership, citizenship, and physical endurance skills through rigorous academic and physical training opportunities. JROTC programs follow a curriculum developed by the United States Military which involves core academics with a Career and Technical Education Program of Study.

JROTC participates in numerous competitions throughout the school year and our cadets excel in many of these events. Examples include: drill meets, rifle matches, academic bowls, color guards, etc.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

* Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates, * Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods, * Motivate students to become responsible learners, * Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
