EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The annual 4-H Tropicana Public Speaking Contest, a partnership between 4-H Tropicana, Inc. and the district, provides students in grades 4 and 5 with the opportunity to participate in a public speaking contest that supports the district reading and writing expectations. Contest participants gather information, organize the material, write, and deliver their speeches at the school, area, and district levels. Participating students develop the ability to express ideas effectively with poise and confidence. The contest promotes high expectations for students in all participating schools.
