Approve Construction Documents and Guaranteed Maximum Price for Classrooms for Kids Addition at
Valrico Elementary School

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On November 9, 2006, the Board appointed Carruthers and Associates Architects P.A. and Manhattan Construction Company to provide design and construction management services. This addition is necessary to meet class size reduction requirements. The scope of work provides for the addition of 16 classrooms.

Approval of the guaranteed price will provide a maximum cost for the facility. Project completion is scheduled for August 4, 2008.

Provide adequate school facilities for the accomplishment of all District Goals and Critical Success Factors.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Construction cost is warranted at $2,812,695, which includes $405,972 for extraordinary site conditions (metal structure and play area relocation, extended walkway canopy and electrical service, fill for building pad) and hurricane shelter requirements. The construction budget is $2,812,700. This item is included in the District Capital Outlay: Classrooms for Kids.
