Approve Recommended Salary Adjustment for School Board Members (Business Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

During the 2007 Legislative Session, the Legislature amended section 1001.395, F.S. to restore into statute the formula for the calculation of school board member’s salaries. Therefore, school boards are no longer required, nor are school boards permitted, to set their own salaries. Instead, school board salaries are set in accordance with a statutory formula.

Attached are the Official Finalized Salaries for school board members and elected superintendents that have been calculated by the Florida Legislative Committee on Intergovernmental Relations in accordance with the statutory formula and related provisions of law.

Please note that, in accordance with Attorney General Opinion 79-87, these salaries are applicable for the 2007-2008 fiscal year and, therefore, are effective as of July 1, 2007.
