Evaluation of the Contract with Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The contract for child care and early education services for children of Hillsborough County participants enrolled in employment and training activities sponsored by the Workforce Investment Act was approved by the School Board on April 10, 2007, Agenda Item 5.05, Section E. This contract replaced a previously approved contract for the same services with OAO Technology Solutions, Inc. which was unexpectedly cancelled by the Agency for Workforce Innovation as of February 28, 2007. A total of 23 children from 17 families received child care services during the 2006/2007 fiscal year because of this funding. The evaluation report is attached.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5 – The District will eliminate the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

A total of $17,917.28 was paid to child care providers for part-time and full-time services to preschool and school age children of Workforce Investment Act participants during the contract term. Payments were made monthly and based on student attendance and the daily rate. Federal funds were channeled by Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. to the School Readiness Programs to provide the child care and early education services. No District funds were a part of this contract.
