Approval of Construction Documents and Guaranteed Maximum Price for Classrooms for Kids Additions at
FishHawk Creek Elementary School and Newsome High School

On November 9, 2006, the Board appointed Wilder Architecture, Inc. and Peter R. Brown Construction, Inc. to provide design and construction management services. The scope of work provides for the following additions: 10 classrooms at FishHawk Creek Elementary School and 24 classrooms at Newsome High School. These additions are necessary to meet class size reduction requirements. Completion of each project is scheduled for July 11, 2008.

Approval of the guaranteed maximum price will establish the cost for each facility, and provide for an increase in the construction manager's fee associated with extraordinary conditions at Newsome High School.

Construction cost for FishHawk Creek Elementary School is warranted at $1,710,199, which includes $143,217 for extraordinary conditions (extended access road, walkways, and electrical connections, storm drainage, additional circulation for unevenly paired classrooms). The construction budget is $1,710,199. Construction cost for Newsome High School is warranted at $3,890,754, which includes $583,215 for extraordinary conditions (temporary barricades, extended utility connections, canopy and access road, storm drainage in lieu of gutters and downspouts, split face masonry veneer, and additional restrooms).
