EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On November 9, 2006, the Board appointed Long & Associates Architects/Engineers, Inc. and Mathews Construction to provide design and construction management services. The scope of work provides for the following additions: 16 classrooms at Cypress Creek Elementary School and 16 classrooms at Shields Middle School. These additions are necessary to meet class size reduction requirements. Project completion is scheduled as follows: May 15, 2008 for Cypress Creek and June 25, 2008 for Shields.
Approval of the guaranteed maximum price will establish the cost for each facility.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
Construction cost for Cypress Creek Elementary School is warranted at $2,636,642, which includes $213,498 for extraordinary conditions (extended low-voltage system and power connections, extended canopy and sidewalks, and utility relocations) and an increase in the construction manager's fee associated with the extraordinary conditions. The construction budget is $2,636,700. Construction cost for Shields Middle School is warranted at $2,836,917, which includes $362,358 for extraordinary conditions (extended low-voltage system and power connections, extended canopy and sidewalks, additional stairs, and utility relocations) and an increase in the construction manager's fee associated with the extraordinary conditions. The construction budget is $2,837,000. These items are included in the District Capital Outlay: Classrooms for kids.
