On November 9, 2006, the Board appointed A. Douglas Johnson Architects and The A.D. Morgan Corporation to provide design and construction management services. The scope of work provides for the following additions: 16 classrooms at Frost Elementary School and 16 classrooms at Giunta Middle School. (The addition at Frost Elementary School was increased from 12 classrooms to 16 at the Design Development Phase.) These additions are necessary to meet class size reduction requirements. Completion of each project is scheduled for May 26, 2008.

Approval of the guaranteed maximum price will establish the cost for each facility.

Provide adequate school facilities for the accomplishment of all District Goals and Critical Success Factors.

Construction cost for the addition at Frost Elementary School is warranted at $2,434,787, which includes $82,000 for extraordinary conditions (offsite paving, stabilization for emergency vehicle access, other playcourts), and an increase in the construction manager's fee associated with the added classrooms. The construction budget is $2,463,000. Construction cost for the addition at Giunta Middle School is warranted at $2,239,210. The construction budget is $2,463,000.
