On November 9, 2006, the Board appointed Howard & Associates Architects, P.A. and Greater Bay Construction Co., Inc. to provide design and construction management services. The scope of work provides for the following additions: 10 classrooms at Davis Elementary School and 12 classrooms at Davidsen Middle School. These additions are necessary to meet class size reduction requirements. Completion of each project is scheduled for August 4, 2008.

Approval of the guaranteed maximum price will establish the cost for each facility, and provide for an increase in the construction manager's fee associated with extraordinary conditions.

Construction cost for Davis Elementary School is warranted at $1,906,259, which includes $189,649 for extraordinary conditions (temporary bus loop; aluminum fencing; excess fill requirements; extended sidewalks, canopies, utility and low voltage connections; and removal and replacement of existing sidewalks and pavements to accommodate construction.) The construction budget is $1,906,300. Construction cost for Davidsen Middle School is warranted at $2,357,615, which includes $345,871 for extraordinary conditions (gang restrooms, extended utility and low-voltage connections, excess fill requirements, and removal and replacement of existing sidewalks to accommodate construction.)
