Approve Partnership Agreement with MORE Health Inc. in Conjunction with STEPS to a Healthier Hillsborough Grant Initiative (Student Services & Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This Partnership Agreement is in effect January 16, 2008, through September 21, 2008. The STEPS to a Healthier Hillsborough is a grant initiative designed to address the issues of asthma, diabetes, obesity, nutrition, physical activity, and tobacco with under served populations. Submitted through the Hillsborough County Health Department, it is highly collaborative and provides the school system with the opportunity to support intervention activities in fifty-six schools in high poverty areas (see Attachment D). MORE Health Inc. will provide nutrition education to third, seventh and tenth graders in the STEPS intervention area schools.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 5 – The District will eliminate the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The amount of $45,000 will be funded from the STEPS to a Healthier Hillsborough Grant.

EVALUATION

Evaluations on the subcontractors are done annually through stakeholder surveys, pre and post questionnaires, and interviews with PE and health teachers. The evaluation also includes lesson evaluations compiled by classroom teachers.
