Recognition of American Cancer Society Relay For Life Participation

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Over the past seven years, Hillsborough County Public Schools has become the largest contributor to Relay For Life, the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising activity. During that time, the amount of money raised annually by our schools has increased from approximately $108,000 to nearly $790,000, and we increased participation from 45 schools in 2001 to 120 schools in 2007. Not only does this make an enormous public relations impact within our community, but it also does the same for the fight against this insidious disease.

Relay For Life is an 18-hour event in which teams of 10 to 15 people collect donations prior to the event, pick a team theme, set up a camp site, and commit to having at least one person on the track at all times. Representatives of the American Cancer Society would like to recognize the District staff and students who have participated in this event.
