EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The week of February 4–8, 2008, has been declared “National School Counseling Week” by the American School Counselor Association and “Student Services Week” by the Florida Department of Education. Adoption of these proclamations acknowledges the important role that school counselors and career personnel, guidance resource specialists, psychologists, social workers, diagnosticians, nurses, and health assistants play in the academic, social, and emotional development and health of students in our district. The support provided by these professionals is an integral part of the total public education system that enables students to learn and teachers to teach, and strengthens the engagement of families to schools, thus maximizing student achievement.
