Approve Change Order No. 5 in the Amount of $409,161.41 Extra and a Time Extension of 30 Calendar Days, Change Order No. 6 in the Credit Amount of $788,479.04, and Acceptance of Project for
Summerfield Crossings Elementary School, New Facility

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This project was planned by the architectural firm of Rowe Architects, Inc. On June 7, 2005, the Board appointed the construction management firm of Mathews Construction. This new facility was occupied in August 2006 and relieved overcrowding at Summerfield and Collins Elementary Schools.

Change Order No. 5 provides for off-site work as required by the County and a separate site entrance for bus and parent traffic as requested by the District Safety Office. A time extension and corresponding increase in general conditions is included to compensate the contractor for impacts resulting from a delay in the relocation of an underground buried cable by Verizon. Change Order No. 6 provides credits for unused contingency funds, project savings, and final reconciliation of the Direct Purchase Program.

The architect advises that the referenced project is finally complete in accordance with the plans and specifications and other contract documents and recommends Board acceptance.
