Approve Reporting Dates for Personnel for Opening new Schools – August 2008

We currently plan to open one new elementary school, and one middle school for the 2008-09 school year. To properly staff this school, we recommend that the appropriate school personnel report early as indicated in the attachment. This schedule follows the same procedure we have utilized in previous years for opening new schools and assures that we will have staff in place for developing curriculum, enrolling and scheduling students, selecting personnel and staff, ordering furniture and equipment, and organizing PTA Executive Boards, and School Advisory Council plans, etc.

$102,339.03 is currently budgeted in the 2007-2008 operating budget. This impact was projected last spring and placed in the salary budget for this school year. Projected impact for the 2008-2009 school year is $189,298.96 and this will be placed in the salary account for the operating budget for the next school year.
