SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Dedication of Right-of-Way and Drainage Easement for Lutz-Lake Fern Road Intersection Improvement

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

According to the conditions of zoning approved by Hillsborough County as part of the school siting process for George Steinbrenner High School, Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) entered into an Interlocal Agreement with Hillsborough County Public Works (the County) which was approved by the School Board in 2007. The terms of the Interlocal Agreement establish that HCPS and the County will jointly fund an intersection improvement located on Lutz-Lake Fern Road. The improvements will be located at the entrance to George Steinbrenner High School and also serve Martinez Middle School and McKitrick Elementary School.

The intersection improvements require the dedication of right-of-way by the HCPS to accommodate the construction of the west bound turn lane into the campus and the establishment of a drainage easement required to service the improvements. Approximately .535 acres along the frontage of McKitrick Elementary have been requested by the County to construct the required westbound turn lane and .117 acres have been requested along the eastern boundary of the McKitrick site to allow a drainage easement consisting of a shallow swale that will connect to an existing County drainage easement serving Villa Rosa Estates.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Provide adequate school facilities for the accomplishment of all District Goals and Critical Success Factors.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: No)

There will be no cost to HCPS to dedicate the land to the County to construct the improvements to serve the three school campus.
