SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Renewal Agreement for Technical Services with SyLNX, Inc. for Database Management Services, Visually Impaired Grant - $24,920 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We request approval of the renewal Agreement for Technical Services with SyLNX, Inc. to continue to provide monthly database management support for the Florida Instructional Materials Center for the Visually Impaired (FIMC-VI) to manage the circulation of specialized academic materials to Florida’s school districts statewide.

FIMC-VI is funded by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE), with the District serving as the fiscal agent. FIMC-VI is responsible for providing materials services to Florida’s school districts statewide and must collect, monitor, and evaluate all components of its materials delivery process as a required reporting component.

Since 1999, FIMC-VI has utilized the DataLNX-IRC database management software, a proprietary product of SyLNX, Inc., to manage the circulation of the specialized academic materials and report outcome data weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually to FDOE.

Through this renewal agreement, SyLNX, Inc., will continue to provide monthly support for the FIMC-VI website/online ordering, DataLNX-IRC application system enhancement, requested modifications to DataLNX-IRC report format(s), and daily data backup. In addition, the current database will be expanded to include an online student registration module with additional components as required by the FDOE.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 1 – The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT reading will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Funds of $24,920 are included in district special revenue/federal programs budget, Project 1317, for the Florida Instructional Materials Center for the Visually Impaired.
