Approve Career Pathways/Tech Prep Articulation Agreement with Hillsborough Community College and the Postsecondary Psychiatric Technician Program at Brewster Technical Center (Career and Technical Education and Adult Technical Education)

We request approval of a Career Pathways/ Tech Prep Articulation Agreement with Hillsborough Community College (HCC) for postsecondary students in the Psychiatric Technician Program at Brewster Technical Center as follows:

• Completion of the postsecondary Psychiatric Technician Program allows students to earn 6 hours of college credit toward an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) or Associate in Science (AS) degree in the Counseling and Human Services program.

For the past 16 years, the School District and HCC have worked collaboratively in implementing Career Pathways/Tech Prep Programs of Study districtwide and collegewide. A major component has been the establishment of articulation agreements allowing district secondary and postsecondary students the opportunity to enter degree-seeking programs at the community college in an advanced status. Articulation agreements are continually updated to add new courses and update existing courses as appropriate.

Adult Technical training programs generate Workforce Education funds and are budgeted in the divisional general revenue budget.
