SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Restrictions concerning the proper allocation of payroll expenditures to the appropriate fiscal year currently prohibits payment in July for days worked in June. The proposed recommendation is to modify the 12 month payroll schedule to allow days worked from June 16th through June 30th to be paid on June 30, 2008, instead of the originally approved July paydays. This change also impacts other employees working during June and July such as substitute, non-permanent and other personnel.
In addition, due to the legislative change resulting in a later school year start date, a shift in the timing of deductions for health insurance and voluntary benefits is needed to eliminate these deductions from being scheduled on a short pay period. The last deduction date for this school year will be on 06/06/08, instead of 05/23/08. The first deduction date for next school year will be on 09/12/08, instead of 08/29/08.
The original and proposed payroll schedules are attached.
