Approve Renewal Agreements for Educational Services with Beth-El Farmworker Ministry, Inc., 2008/2009 - $7,200 (Adult and Community Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We request approval of the renewal agreement for the continuation of educational services by the Department of Adult and Community Education to adult farmworkers at facilities operated by Beth-El Farmworker Ministry, Inc.

The Agreement for Educational Services (Financial) renews the commitment by the district to compensate Beth-El Farmworker Ministry, Inc. for the cost of utilities incurred by the use of classroom space by the Department of Adult and Community Education.

The Agreement for Educational Services (Non-Financial) establishes the responsibilities of the district and Beth-El Farmworker Ministry, Inc. for delivery of instruction that includes adult basic education and General Educational Development (GED) preparation as well as instruction for students seeking to earn a State of Florida High School Diploma.

For the 2007/2008 school year, Beth-El Farmworker Ministry served approximately 150 students and earned $75,000 in Workforce Education funding.

Classes generate Workforce Education Fund revenues and are included in the divisional general operating budget. The annual cost of $7,200 for utilities is included in the divisional general operating budget.
