SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Agreements for Technical Services for Facilitators for School Improvement Workshops, 2008/2009 - $30,000 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of the attached roster of School Improvement workshop facilitators. To enhance the School Improvement Process and to further advance the effectiveness of our schools, facilitators will plan, conduct, and evaluate workshops from July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009. The district is committed to supporting the School Improvement Process to ensure academic excellence for all students. All Schools will have the opportunity to participate in School Improvement Workshops that address the following topics of School Improvement:
- The Continuous Improvement Model
- Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- PLC Facilitator Support
- Development of the School Improvement Plan
- Basics of School Advisory Councils
- Empowering the School Advisory Council
- School-wide Intervention Systems
- Monitoring and Evaluating the School Improvement Plan
- Assessment for Learning
- Classroom Assessment for Student Learning
- Assessment Tools
- Assessment /Data Analysis in the School Improvement Process
Facilitators will provide follow-up mentoring and coaching to assist schools with the implementation of the School Improvement initiatives, strategies, and practices learned within the workshops. In order to effectively provide the training, permission is requested to add and/or delete facilitators as needed, not to exceed the budgeted amount of $30,000.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
Funds of $30,000 are included in the divisional operating budget for Curriculum and Instruction, Project 5005, School Improvement.
EVALUATION
The effectiveness of these training items will be measured by analysis of 2009 FCAT SSS and NRT gain scores.
