Approve Renewal Agreement for Technical Services with Mary Stoltz, Inc., for Computer Software Support and Evaluation, Visually Impaired Grant - $58,000 (Curriculum and Instruction Division, Florida Instructional Materials for the Visually Impaired - FIMC-VI)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of the renewal Agreement for Technical Services with Mary Stoltz, Inc., for computer software support and evaluation of the instructional materials delivery system for the Florida Instructional Materials Center for the Visually Impaired.
Funded by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE), FIMC-VI is charged with providing statewide services (braille, large print, and recorded/digital academic materials) to Florida’s school districts in a timely manner. The consultant will:
- Provide onsite, weekly software support related to the specially-designed database software, FIMC-VI Order and Inventory System, DataLNX-IRC,
- Monitor, analyze, and assess data to maximize staffing assignments, collect order and production statistics, and suggest improvements in the delivery system to assure textbooks/materials are provided in a reasonable time,
- Collaborate with hardware consultant to ensure compatibility,
- Provide corresponding staff training on the use and updates of the database, as needed,
- Update the step-by-step procedure manual for each FIMC-VI department (materials delivery, production, braille, etc.),
- Work to integrate current software with the Lawson system, and
- Develop online training for Florida’s school districts related to the implementation of the new online student registration capabilities.
Mary Stoltz, Inc. has been successfully performing these functions for the past fourteen years. Approval of this contract provides continuity of necessary services to FIMC-VI.
ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)
Goal 1 – The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT reading will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
Funds of $58,000 are included in divisional special revenue/federal programs budget (Project 1517) FIMC-VI.
