Approve 2008-2009 Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO) Maintenance Projects and Millage

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The 2008 Legislature approved the General Appropriations Act that appropriated the 2008-09 funds to support Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO) projects. Funds identified through this appropriation must be encumbered within 31 months. The millage funds are received from local property tax assessments. Millage funds also provide payment for debt service, site purchases, and other obligations. The 2008-09 projects identified are the result of prioritizing recommendations from individual schools, the general area directors, and maintenance staff.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Provide adequate school facilities for the accomplishment of all District Goals and Critical Success Factors.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The 2008-09 District Capital Outlay: PECO Maintenance Fund allocation is $9,096,752. The 2008-09 Local Millage Assessment available for projects after prior obligations is $70,765,263.
