EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On September 7, 2004, the Board approved the appointment of The Rosier Alliance and J.B.D. Construction, Inc. to provide design and construction management services for renovations at DeSoto Elementary School. On March 14, 2006, the Board approved the reassignment of the contract for design services to RHC, Inc. due to the withdrawal of The Rosier Alliance from the project. (Prior to assuming the role of lead designer, RHC, Inc. was an engineering consultant to The Rosier Alliance on this project.) The scope of work provides for the renovation of gang toilets for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility, upgrading of fire alarm and security systems, restoration of wood floors in old classrooms, telephone system replacement, and door hardware replacement for ADA accessibility. Mechanical work includes replacement of four classroom air conditioning units, main electrical switch gear, and electrical panels. Exterior work includes painting; dumpster enclosure relocation; correction of site grading issues; and addition of perimeter security fencing and gates, bus drop-off canopy, and ramps to provide ADA accessibility.
Change Order No. 5 provides a credit for the direct purchase of materials by the District, in accordance with the Direct Purchase Program. Change Order No. 6 provides for additional requirements due to unforeseen conditions (repairs to air conditioning system, new grease interceptor, new west entrance door, replacement power poles in one classroom, and wall repairs pursuant to removal of intercom speaker boxes); additional repairs and renovations not previously included in the scope (casework repairs in the cafeteria and administration suite, repair or replacement of exterior cafeteria doors, and upgrades to wood floor finish) and safety requirements identified subsequent to the GMP (additional fencing to secure campus, and concrete steps and landing at administration suite.) A time extension of 95 calendar days is included for completion of the work.
