Approve Design Development Phase for Renovation at
Alafia Elementary School

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On February 19, 2008, the Board appointed Wilder Architecture, Inc. and Vogel Bros. Building Co. to provide design and construction management services. The renovation of existing facilities provides for fire sprinklers where required; canopy renovation; site drainage remediation; replacement of air conditioning and low voltage systems; limited replacement of plumbing fixtures, interior finishes and door hardware; addition of a permanent stage to the multi-purpose room; and kitchen, electrical, and handicap accessibility upgrades. Project completion is scheduled for December 2009.

Approval of the design development phase will allow the architect to proceed with construction documents.

Provide adequate school facilities for the accomplishment of all District Goals and Critical Success Factors.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The project is currently funded at $6,033,197. The estimate of probable cost is $6,032,692. This item is included in the District Capital Outlay: Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO) Construction.
