Students, who are currently receiving services through the school’s Program to Empower Teens (PET), will be targeted for the 180 Degree course. The class will be part of the student’s daily schedule. The instructional program will focus on five key components: core values, character education, life skills, 21st century skills, and community outreach. The 180 Degree program will guide students through three distinct phases for each of the components: self-awareness, self-development, and social awareness and responsibility. The goal is for students to receive the support necessary through the 180 Degree program to be able to increase academic performance in their other classes. Students have been recommended based on attendance, academic, and behavioral data. Both the cost for the instructor and materials are included in this agreement for technical services.
