Adoption of Proclamation – “Music in Our Schools Month”, March 2009 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

We request that the School Board adopt the attached proclamation designating the month of March 2009 as “Music in Our Schools Month” in Hillsborough County schools.

The National Association for Music Education has designated March 2009 as “Music in Our Schools Month”. Attached is a proclamation that The School District of Hillsborough County, Florida will observe the month of March 2009 as “Music In Our Schools Month.” The theme for this year’s activities is “Music! Just Imagine . . .”

“Music in Our Schools Month” is a time of year when music education becomes the focus of schools across the nation. This is an excellent opportunity for students to share musical ideas and accomplishments with their families, friends, and communities.

* Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates

Activities for "Music in Our Schools Month" are integrated into the standard curriculum with no additional cost to District.
