Approve Reporting Dates for Personnel for Opening New Schools - August 2009

We currently plan to open two elementary schools, one middle school and two high schools for the 2009/2010 school year. To properly staff these schools, we recommend that the appropriate school personnel report early as indicated in the attachment. This schedule follows the same procedure we have utilized in previous years for opening new schools and assures that we will have staff in place for developing curriculum, enrolling and scheduling students, selecting personnel and staff, ordering furniture and equipment, and organizing PTA Executive Boards, and School Advisory Council plans, etc.

All Strategic Objectives

$480,534.40 is currently budgeted in the 2008/2009 operating budget. This impact was projected last spring and placed in the salary budget for this school year. Projected impact for the 2009/2010 school year is $236,706.46 and this will be placed in the salary account for the operating budget for the next school year.
