2009 Extended School Year Program (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Extended School Year Program (June and July) is designed to focus on students needing additional instructional time, as well as enrichment programs. Teachers, principals, assistant principals, and district staff have contributed to the development of the plan for 2009. The Extended School Year Program supports the District Student Progression Plan by addressing options available to students, optimizing the use of Supplemental Academic Instruction (SAI) funds, Title I and Title III funds, fee-based programs, community partnerships, and grant programs.
The attached Extended School Year program handbook is used as a resource to organize and communicate with all stakeholders, including parents.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
The cost of the Extended School Year Program is approximately $10,790,000 and will include funds from both 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 school years. Funds are included in the divisional budgets as follows:
$7,800,000 Supplemental Academic Instruction (SAI)$1,900,000 Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA)Federal Funds$250,000 Federal Title I Funds$185,000 English Language Learners (ELL) Program$655,000 Various Grant Funds

Complete review/report of attendance, as well as end of course assessments in appropriate programs.
