Approve Termination of Contract for Imagine Charter School at Riverview

The original application for Imagine Charter School at Riverview was approved on October 16, 2007. In a letter dated January 24, 2008, the Board Chair for Imagine Charter School requested an additional year of planning due to facility issues. This request was granted, and the school was scheduled to open in the 2009/2010 school year. On July 15, 2008, the School Board approved a five-year contract for Imagine Charter School at Riverview with terms extending from July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2014. On March 12, 2009, Imagine's Board Chair notified the district that there were continuing issues securing a facility for the August 2009 opening. In a letter dated April 1, 2009, the district acknowledged receipt of the letter from the Board Chair and informed them of the need to terminate the existing contract. In addition, the district notified Imagine Charter School at Riverview that a new application would be necessary if they planned to pursue opening a charter school in Hillsborough County. Due to these circumstances, it is necessary to terminate the existing contract.
