Recognition of Jonathan Davis, Student at Willis Peters Exceptional Student Center, Florida State Winner for the Exemplary Participant Recognition Program for the Visual Strength Artistic Expression (VSA) Florida Music Award (Exceptional Student Education-Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Jonathan Davis has been selected as the Florida State winner for the Exemplary Participant Recognition Program for the VSA Florida Music Award. Jonathan is a 12th grade student in the Dual Sensory Impaired class at Willis Peters Exceptional Center (WPEC) which serves approximately 106 mentally handicapped and dual sensory impaired students who receive art and music instruction weekly. He is the keyboard accompanist for the WPEC chorus and has made community appearances including vocal/keyboard performances.

Jonathan was nominated for this state award by his special needs teacher, Phoebe Irby. Through the nomination process, Ms. Irby describes his unique ability to inspire others, including students and adults, through the sharing of his music.

The VSA Arts of Florida provides arts, education, and cultural opportunities by and for people with disabilities.
