Approve Memorandum of Agreement with the Center for Urban Programs and Services, Inc. for the Full Service School Program (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

This Memorandum of Agreement is in effect June 10, 2009 through August 14, 2009. The staff of the Center for Urban Programs and Services, Inc. has requested permission to co-locate a Summer Male Leadership Academy at Sanchez Full Service School. This Academy will recruit 20-30 students, ages 8 to 13 years, from Title I schools in East Tampa, including Foster, James, Lockhart, and Potter Elementary Schools. The purpose of this summer program is to enhance the academic skills of participants to successfully maintain and improve their individual math and reading levels. This academic enrichment program will focus on reading and math, FCAT preparation, cultural arts, positive identity building, and pro-social norms.

* Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates

This Academy will be provided at no cost to the participants and the school district. Funds for this program are from a private donor and local fundraising activities.

The Center for Urban Programs and Services, Inc. is responsible for program evaluations in this partnership. Evaluations will be completed by the Center for Urban Programs and Services, Inc. staff. Program evaluation data is due to the Supervisor of School Social Work Services and the Coordinator of Full Service Schools on November 2, 2009.
