Approve the Hillsborough Severely Emotionally Disturbed Network Project (SEDNET) Proposal (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The SEDNET Project is designed to provide resources for the coordination of educational, therapeutic, and social services for students enrolled in program for severely emotionally handicapped students and their families. The project is funded by the Florida Department of Education with allocations from both federal and state resources. Success 4 Kids & Families will serve as fiscal manager for this project. The day-to-day supervision of personnel will be the responsibility of the Director for Student Support Services.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

$131,801 – 100% of the funding is received from the Department of Education. Funding used to provide services for children identified as severely emotionally handicapped and their families. This item is included in the District Special Revenue/Federal Programs Budget and does not impact Part I of the budget.

EVALUATION

SEDNET requires an evaluation to be sent to the Florida Department of Education. This year the report is due on July 15, 2009. The evaluation consists of reporting proof of the following: collaboration with community, collaboration on grants, interlocal agreements, evidence of training, data on student attendance and student behavior. A copy of the evaluation will be available to the School Board upon request.
