Approve Adoption of Recommended Titles as Flexibility Instructional Materials for Secondary Social Studies (Secondary Education)

We request approval to adopt the attached materials as supplemental materials for the Secondary Social Studies program. The attached memorandum from Dennis Holt, Supervisor, Secondary Social Studies, indicates the Flex textbook committee studied and recommended the instructional materials according to district guidelines (Policy 4.16) which include the following:

• The District Instructional Materials Selection Committee is trained in the instructional materials evaluation process.
• The committee reviews and evaluates submissions using the Florida Department of Education instructional materials evaluation packet.
• The committee through a consensus vote recommends instructional materials to be placed on the Flex list for purchase.

* Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum

These items may be purchased using categorical textbook funds in the general operating budget for Curriculum and Instruction. The estimated three year cost is $50,800.
