Recognition of Students with Perfect Attendance Kindergarten - Grade 12 (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

Nine years ago, Deputy Superintendent Beth Shields initiated an annual attendance incentive program for schools that meet or exceed the district goal of 96% student attendance. The following seven students will be awarded for achieving thirteen years of perfect attendance from kindergarten - grade 12 (K-12). Those students are:

Ben Abercrombie, Durant High School

Brett Birch, Alonso High School

Cathrine Black, Wharton High School

Manuel Ramos, East Bay High School

Emily Reich, Freedom High School

James Shin, Durant High School

Kasey Vice, Newsome High School

The students will receive the following items for this achievement:

A plaque recognizing achievement of perfect attendance from K-12

Universal Studios tickets (awarded by a staff member from US 103.5 Radio)

Invitation to visit the US 103.5 radio station to produce their own attendance commercial (awarded by a staff member from US 103.5 Radio)

Presentation by a member from Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union

The district would like to recognize staff of the US 103.5 radio station for their support of positive student attendance in Hillsborough County Public Schools through their public service announcements played daily throughout the Tampa Bay area.

Funding for the plaques, including inscriptions, were paid from the 2008/2009 Student Support Services Part I budget.

At the end of each school year, the Supervisor of Attendance will conduct a search of the district’s student data base to determine seniors who qualify for the K-12 perfect attendance award.
