Bullying and Harassment Committee Update

On December 9, 2008, the School Board approved the District’s Bullying and Harassment Policy. On May 7, 2009, the Florida Department of Education certified the policy as in compliance with Florida Statute Section 1006.147. The Bullying and Harassment Committee (sub-committee of the Violence Prevention Committee) met January through May of 2009 to create and implement additional procedures to enhance our current policy. This report will highlight the work of the committee, provide an overview of what our schools are currently doing, and will provide a timeline and flow chart of training scheduled prior to the opening of the 2009-2010 school year.

* Promote a culture of safety, which is free from harassment, bullying, and aggression

The cost to the District is approximately $1,500 for the printing of the training material. This will be paid from Staff Development funds.
