EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On July 15, 2008, the Board appointed Long & Associates Architects/Engineers, Inc. and J.O. DeLotto & Sons, Inc. to provide design and construction management services. The scope of work provides for an additional 16 classrooms. This addition is necessary to meet class size reduction requirements.
This change order provides for renovation of existing science lab classrooms at Tomlin Middle School. In order to achieve the number of additional classrooms required by class size reduction, and to provide science labs that meet current standards, the existing rooms being used as science labs are being renovated and no science labs are included in the new addition. Adding the work to the classroom addition project takes advantage of existing supervision and overhead, reduces costs for general conditions items, and avoids potential conflicts between contractors and provides for the most cost effective means to achieve the overall plan.
A time extension is included for completion of the work.
