Approve the Recommendation Regarding the Purchase of "Scriptographic Products" from Channing Bete Company (Sole-Source Provider) (Business Division)

As required by School Board policy, when the amount of a purchase from a sole-source provider is $25,000 or more, the Board is to be notified. The requirement for requesting competitive solicitations for the purchase of any type of copyrighted materials including, without limitation, printed instructional materials, computer software, DVDs, disc or tape recordings where such materials are purchased directly from the producer or publisher, the owner of the copyright, an exclusive agent within the state, a governmental agency or a recognized educational institution, is waived, as authorized by Florida Department of Education rule 6A-1.012 purchasing policies.

The materials in question, "Scriptographic Products," are booklets and folders, and other products including Scriptographic folders, coloring books, activity books, calendars, readiness guides, activity posters, self-care handbooks, workbooks, handbooks, growth charts, storybooks, group presentation kits, stationery kits, reminder cards, adhesive cards, vinyl cling decals, and a unique line of CBC sticker sheets. The product offers ready-to-use presentations and workshop materials that can be customized to our district and school sites. Additionally, the materials can be distributed at community, district, and site-based events to provide parents with information and materials focused on increasing involvement and developing an awareness of district and site-based initiatives. The presentation and workshop materials will be housed at the Leadership Acculturation Center and will be available for check-out to schools. These materials will also be available to community partners/providers, distributed at District Advisory Council meetings, available at district sponsored events, in which the Office of Programs for English Language Learners (ELL) will be participating (i.e. The Hispanic Festival), and available at community sponsored events (i.e. World Refugee Day).

The Supervisor of ELL Programs, Ms. Sandra Rosario, has submitted requisitions totaling $26,500 to the Procurement Department. This project is funded through the Refugee Grant.
