2008/2009 International Science & Engineering Fair Winners
Mark Parrish – Chamberlain High School
Jasmine Roberts – Wharton High School
The International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) is a global academic competition sponsored by Intel and the Society for Science & the Public (SSP) since 1950. The 2009 ISEF, held in Reno, Nevada, May 10 - May 15, 2009, had participants from over 50 countries and all 50 states. Over 60 scientific, professional, and educational organizations presented special awards including scholarships, summer internships, book and equipment grants, and scientific field trips.
Mark Parrish (Chamberlain High School) received a full tuition scholarship valued at $150,000 to Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His project was entitled “The Application of Multi-Dimensional Flow Vector Probes on the Modeling of Wingtip Vortices – A Six Year Study.”
Jasmine Roberts (Wharton High School) received a cash prize of $1,000 from the American Physiological Society for her project entitled “Does Chronic Hyperglycemia Have an Effect on Alzheimer's Amyloid-Beta Pathology in the Brain?”
This is the first time two representatives from our district have received awards in the same year.
