Approve Request for Additional Funds Required for the 2008/2009 Advanced Placement Tests with CollegeBoard as Part of the Partnership for the EXCELerator Reform Model, 2008/2009 Through 2010/2011 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

On February 19, 2008, the Board approved a three-year Memorandum of Understanding with CollegeBoard as a partnership for the EXCELerator Reform Model to begin in the 2008/2009 school year through the 2010/2011 school year. Through a collaborative process, the program components were chosen and implementation approaches were optimized for Hillsborough County Public Schools.

The mission of the EXCELerator Reform Model is to significantly increase the number of traditionally under-served students who are prepared to enter and complete postsecondary programs, such as college upon high school graduation.

Annual funds of $3,645,210, which included EXCELerator Leadership/Management Services and fees ($1,322,255), as well as products including PSAT, SAT, CollegeEd, Advanced Placement, SpringBoard, and staff development consulting ($2,322,955), were approved. Advanced placement test expenditures for 2008/2009 are $1,935,366, which exceeds the original approved expenditure of $1,322,255 by $613,111.

Annual funds of $1,935,366 are available in general funds for PSAT, SAT, CollegeEd, and Advanced Placement.

Data will be collected from each EXCELerator site on a quarterly basis and sent to the CollegeBoard for review.
