SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Revisions to Payroll Schedules for Fiscal Year 2009/2010 (Business Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Payroll schedules for the 2009/2010 fiscal year were originally approved on June 9, 2009, based on the previously Board approved school calendar and the employee work calendars prepared by the Division of Human Resources (HR).
Several revisions to these payroll schedules are necessary due to:
- Recent modifications to the employee work calendars that resulted from the negotiated decision for no work days the week of Thanksgiving, with those days being made up elsewhere in the employee calendar.
- October 30, 2009, will be a student day, instead of a previously designated professional day. All employees will work on this day.
- February 15, 2010, will also be a student day, instead of a previously designated teacher work day. All employees will work on this day.
- Some employees will be working one or more of the four 10-hour/day weeks that start on September 7, 2009 (Labor Day), January 18, 2010 (Martin Luther King Day), and May 31, 2010 (Memorial Day).
- 10.5-month teachers (A03) will have one less day in their contract year, changing total paid days from 204 to 203.
- 11-month teachers and ROTC instructors (A05) will also have one less day in their contract year, changing total paid days from 214 to 213.
- The need to designate June 30, 2010, as the final payday for the fiscal year, instead of the originally approved July payment dates. Restrictions concerning the proper allocation of payroll expenditures to the appropriate fiscal year currently prohibit payment in July for days worked in June. Days worked from June 14, 2010 through June 30, 2010, will be paid on June 30, 2010. In addition, the first extended year payment (EYP) refund payment will be paid on June 30, 2010, due to the elimination of the previously approved payday of July 2, 2010.
Biweekly payroll schedules must be modified to reflect these adjustments. Revisions are notated throughout the attached payroll schedules.
