Recognition of winners of the Planning Commission's 27th Annual Community Design Awards
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Renovation/remodeling projects undertaken at three schools were recognized with
Awards of Excellence at the Planning Commission’s 50th Anniversary Celebration and 27th Annual Community Design Awards held Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the Tampa Convention Center in Downtown Tampa. In all, sixteen projects were recognized by the jurors, three of which were projects of Hillsborough County Public Schools.
- Orange Grove Middle Magnet School in the category of Historic Preservation/Restoration
- Sergeant Paul R. Smith Middle School in the category of Commercial, Public, or Quasi Public projects
- DeSoto Elementary School in the category of Historic Preservation/Restoration
The project teams recognized for each project were as follows:
- Atelier Architecture, Walbridge Aldinger Company, and Hillsborough County Public Schools, for Orange Grove Middle Magnet School
- Wilder Architecture, Inc., Hillsborough County Public Schools, and Allstate Construction, Inc. for Sergeant Paul R. Smith Middle School
- RHC and Associates, Inc., Atelier Architecture, JBD Construction, and Hillsborough County Public Schools for DeSoto Elementary School
