Approve Agreements for Technical Services with Amy McKenzie, Ed.D., and Nancy Toelle for Ongoing Professional Development Provided to Visually Impaired Grant (Curriculum and Instruction Division-Florida Instructional Materials Center for the Visually Impaired FIMC-VI)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of the attached agreements with Amy McKenzie and Nancy Toelle for professional development and program consultation. FIMC-VI is charged with providing disability-specific statewide services and professional development to Florida’s school districts. Consultants will provide consultation in the development of online training and other alternate delivery methods for follow-up and ongoing collaboration related to Quality Programs for the Visually Impaired (QPVI).
In addition, Amy McKenzie will:
- Provide facilitation for Duval County School District (Jacksonville) as they implement phase one of Quality Programs for Students with Visual Impairments (QPVI). Included will be six days of face-to-face training for Duval County teachers of the visually impaired and program supervisor. This effort will assist Duval County to develop program capabilities to better meet the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) as they relate to the unique needs of their students who are blind, visually impaired, and deaf-blind. Consultant is a trained QPVI facilitator and has extensive experience with the QPVI process in several other school districts.
- Continue facilitation for Leon County School District (Tallahassee) as they move into phase three of QPVI. Consultant will provide 25 hours of monitoring and facilitation activities for Leon County School District.

Funds of $7,794.80 for Amy McKenzie’s services and funds of $11,240 for Nancy Toelle’s services for a total of $19,034.80 are included in district special revenue/federal programs budget (project 1717) for FIMC-VI.
