Approve the Memorialization of Commitment Between Hillsborough County Public Schools and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) is one of five national finalists for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's "Intensive Partnerships to Empower Effective Teachers" grant competition, worth approximately $100 million to the district. As part of this process, HCPS is required to submit this memorialization of commitment indicating our intent to adhere to our project plan. The memorialization will be signed by the Board Chair, Superintendent, Classroom Teachers Association, community members, public officials, and other stakeholders.

* Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates, * Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods, * Motivate students to become responsible learners, * Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum, * Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce, * Align the performance management system with the district’s priorities
