Approve Purchase Contract for Right-of-Way Acquisition at Strawberry Crest High School and David E. Bailey, Jr. Elementary School in Dover (the Landscape Maintenance Professionals' Property)

To complete the infrastructure and roadway improvements necessary at the Strawberry Crest High School and David E. Bailey, Jr. Elementary School campus located in Dover, additional properties for right-of-way need to be acquired. This right-of-way property, owned by Landscape Maintenance Professionals, is for the signalization of the northwest corner of Gallagher Road and Highway 92. School Board staff retained an independent appraiser and cure expert to perform evaluations to establish the value of the acquisition area and for the performance of the cure plan method and cost. The acquisition price has been negotiated with the seller and determined to be $13,000 plus closing costs.

Approval of this Purchase Contract with Landscape Maintenance Professionals will enable the District to complete the corner improvements at Gallagher Road and Highway 92 and enable the School Board to move forward with the signalization of this intersection. The signalization will create a safer traffic pattern for the entire school campus, including students, faculty, staff and parents.

The $13,000 for the land acquisition and the additional closing fees will be derived from Local Millage.
