SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Activities Calendar for Career and Technical Student Organizations, 2009/2010 (Career and Technical Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) calendar is presented annually during the month of October. The attached calendar includes activities from the Executive Director of each CTSO, District Career and Technical Education Staff, and the Florida Department of Education. This document identifies activities for October 2009 through October 2010. CTSOs are co-curricular and are integral to the Career and Technical Education curriculum. Involvement in CTSO activities and competitive events reinforces academic and occupational knowledge, strengthens leadership skills, provides career networking, and improves personal presentation skills. Membership in CTSOs rewards practical and academic learning. The business/industry community views our Career and Technical Education programs as a significant source of well prepared employees and college ready students. Approval of this calendar expedites the procedure for students to participate in CTSO activities in-county and out-of-county and allows schools the option to participate.
