Approve Renewal of Memorandum of Agreement with the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA for the Development of Services for Select Youth at Buchanan Middle School (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) has had working relationships with the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA (YMCA) for several years. This Memorandum of Agreement further describes joint efforts at Buchanan Middle School. Buchanan Middle School continues to serve as a pilot site with the YMCA staff to promote safe schools, family involvement, community support, improved academic success, and student engagement. Services are provided to students, families, and faculties, based upon the unique needs of the school.

The cost for these services is provided by the YMCA from state and local grant funds. Additional funding for this joint venture will be sought by the provider with input from designated district staff. As appropriate, HCPS will provide space at the site for program services.

The provider will submit program evaluation data to district and school-based staffs at the end of the 2009/2010 school year. Evaluation data will be utilized for future program review and planning purposes.
