Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with Dale Carnegie Training Tampa Bay to Provide a Generation Next Development Program for Metropolitan Ministries Residential Program (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Title I Neglected and Delinquent Program (N&D) is partnering with Dale Carnegie Training Tampa Bay to provide a "Generation Next" program at Metropolitan Ministries Residential Program. The program is designed to motivate students and youth to become leaders in the community. The program’s primary objective is to develop core skills, specifically in human relations, communication, leadership, attitude control, and overall confidence. This program will be integrated into the after school evening/youth program at Metropolitan Ministries. The program will target students, ages 12-17, who live in the shelter with their families at Metropolitan Ministries. The N&D Program and Metropolitan Ministries will track the students' success in the areas of school attendance and academic achievement. The program will be implemented in eight sessions from December 9, 2009 through June 30, 2010.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
The cost for the Generation Next Development Program is $20,000. Dale Carnegie Training Tampa Bay will provide $10,000 from their own fundraising/scholarships and Metropolitan Ministries will use $10,000 from the Title I N&D Program to cover the remainder.
EVALUATION
At the conclusion of the program, the Title I N&D Program and Metropolitan Ministries staff will review student performance data to determine the effectiveness of the training provided. This information will be used in determining future contracts with the trainer.
