Approve the Intensive Partnership to Empower Effective Teachers Grant Agreement Between Hillsborough County Public Schools and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) is one of four national finalists for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's "Intensive Partnerships to Empower Effective Teachers" grant competition, worth $100 million to the district. As part of this process, HCPS is required to submit this grant agreement indicating our intent to adhere to our project plan. Within days, the Gates Foundation will name its final list of recipients.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

* Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates, * Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods, * Motivate students to become responsible learners, * Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum, * Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce, * Align the performance management system with the district’s priorities

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: No)

If chosen as a partner by the Gates Foundation, Hillsborough County Public Schools will receive $100 million over the next seven years.

EVALUATION

The project's progress will be evaluated annually by the district, Gates staff, and external evaluators.
