Approve the Job Description for Director of Intensive Partnership to Empower Effective Teachers Grant

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Hillsborough County Public Schools is one of four national finalists for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's Intensive Partnerships to Empower Effective Teachers Grant. In the event we receive the grant, four director positions will be advertised to manage aspects of the grant such as Evaluation/Compensation, Assessment, Leadership Development, and New Teacher Induction.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

* Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates, * Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods, * Motivate students to become responsible learners, * Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum, * Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce, * Align the performance management system with the district’s priorities

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

If chosen as a partner by the Gates Foundation, Hillsborough County Public Schools will receive $100 million over the next seven years. The director positions described in this item will be fully funded from grant funds.

EVALUATION

The project's progress will be evaluated annually by the district, Gates staff, and external evaluators.
