Recognition of the 2009/2010 Florida French Teacher of the Year Award (Secondary Education – Curriculum and Instruction Division)

Danielle L. Odden, French teacher at Plant City High School, was selected as the winner of the 2009/2010 Florida French Teacher of the Year at the Florida Foreign Language Association Conference in St. Augustine, Florida, in October 2009, and was presented with a check for $150. Danielle is deserving of this award due to her ability to create unique learning situations where students can be successful. Ms. Odden is an outstanding teacher who has developed a great rapport with her students and has encouraged them to be independent learners. She consistently prepares her students to be globally competitive and challenges them to maximize their overall academic achievement. Her passion and love for the French language and culture is evident and transmitted to her students every day. In addition, Ms. Odden is committed to language abroad programs, service to her professional organizations, student state competitions, and the overall strengthening and expansion of the French program in our district and at the state level.
